Chevy / GMC suspension

I found a good deal on a 65 but noticed it is a GMC that has chevrolet grille and tail gate but has the GMC dash and leaf spring rear suspension.

My question to you guys is....... if I use a dropmember in front what are my options for the rear???

Re: Chevy / GMC suspension

I have installed a 4/6 and a 5/7 drop (flip kit) on a couple of newer silverados I have owned but wasnt sure what if anything was available for a 65 as for a flip kit or just how much would I gain by putting the rear end on top of the leaf springs.....I would like about a 5 inch drop in rear... does Nate at porterbuilt offer anything ?

I have a 63 chevy chassis and curious what would be involved in using the trailing arms off that chassis and doing away with the leaf springs......

I can't imagine it would be all that difficult... Add in the trailing arm crossmember, remove the leaf springs, install adjustable panhard bar, and your done. Probably not that easy, but there shouldn't be much more to it. Check out the "Make it Handle" thread in the suspension area, seems like I remember this being discussed.

It's been a while since I have looked under one, but IIRC the GMC should have the trailing arm crossmember already in place. You would just need to add the front mounts, the trailing arms, coils, and panhard bar.
