Common windshield issue
Is there any way to repair the light scratches in the windshiled these trucks get from bad wiper blades? One truck i have isn't bad, can catch fingernail or anything but its unsightly.

Re: Common windshield issue
Jud, you can polish them out with "Cerruim Oxide" and a good buffing wheel.. the only downfall is there will be a "valley" left and every time the wiper goes over it will streak.
If its for an all original show truck (including windsheild) that would be okay, but for a driver I would just opt for a new windshield |

Re: Common windshield issue
Check out Eastwood - they have polishing kits for glass that may help.

Re: Common windshield issue
Knowing that the glass restoration kits were just buffing compound and knowing that we had plenty of different compounds laying around here I tried some compounds on my windshield. Although they cleaned the windshield and leveled some of the wiper marks a lot of the damage is still there. Before removing the glass I called the local glass shop. A PPG piece was $100 bucks. I was only fooling around with mine trying to see if I could make an improvement but knowing what they cost new I'd be hard pressed to invest too much in a kit and my time to clean a windshield I'll never be completely happy with. My main goal is to replace the crummy seal around the windshield. Im not saying dont do it once you find a satisfactory product just know what a new one costs and weigh your options.

Re: Common windshield issue
This one is a 1985 replacement but otherwise really nice. Its in a parts truck so maybe I'll just let it go to scrap with truck if a new one is only 100-200, wow, i thought they'd be a lot more than that! Thanks guys.

Re: Common windshield issue
There is a place in ham lake (i think that is the town) That has tinted new ones for around $99. I am sure they are a little thinner than originals.
