Re: Gonna put 5.3 in my S10

Thanks Ryan,I am going to try to get the Abone on the road but my goal is to sell it. Nice Idea on the Hemi-already got a SBC in it. Now if you want to buy it I'll pull the SBC

Re: Gonna put 5.3 in my S10

I have my gas gauge hooked up now and I checked my mileage fro the first time.
The speedo is slow as at 57 on it I'm actually turning a mile in 55 seconds. so my mileage is off a little. But I'm getting 17 mpgs the way it sets now. If I ever take it on a long trip I'll use my GPS and get a better idea on mileage.

OH Yeah! Especially since GG'S dropped the KC meet. This truck is so much fun to drive and still gets decent mileage. If I would keep my FOOT out of it might even get BETTER

Re: Gonna put 5.3 in my S10

Hey Ray, since you asking I'll bite. What did you do for motor mounts, plates on the block and modified the stock frame mounts?? Did you sell off the extra parts you had for the DBW?? Did you add the AC yet?? Enough for now...Jim

Gotcha, I can't keep up with you and Leon. I just remember you saying you had another HD to fill the void of the Indian.

What motor mounts do you use for a v8 conversion if you don't mind me asking?

Re: Gonna put 5.3 in my S10

The OP bought the V8 conversion kit from S10 site. It came with mounts headers and radiator. When I blew the 327 up I decided to go 5.3 and just adapted the plates to the V8 mounts.

Re: Gonna put 5.3 in my S10

I have been following your thread . I am in the same boat as you . I have an 89' regular cab with 5.3 4l60e and factory 8.5 . Mine also is a no A/C truck , but the heater and defrost work great . Wanting to add one of the cheap Ebay underdash units with sanden style compressor and universal condensor . Any updates on the A/C ?

Re: Gonna put 5.3 in my S10

Nothing on the AC yet, had a little set back last winter with Cancer and that cleaned out my savings. This spring I lost my trans and I had it rebuilt to handle 400 hp that took another $1500 then my starter went out- here goes another $250. Hopefully I can do something this winter, unless I decide to sell it to complete some other projects.
