Re: Switching motors.. need advice
Sounds like it might be a gearing problem which will be worse with a V8, mpg-wise. Do you know what rear gears you have?

Re: Switching motors.. need advice
That 307s gonna be another slug unless you put some serious work into it. They were usually the base model v8. Go with the 327 or find a 350. 3.42 is a good all around gear, if you need a little more top end you could always run a taller tire.

Re: Switching motors.. need advice
Yeah I understand everyone wants a 327, but the 307 isn't a bad little engine we got one in our Camaro.

Re: Switching motors.. need advice
So your looking for a bigger motor with good gas mileage not for horsepower?

Re: Switching motors.. need advice
Then look for a 305, honestly in these trucks motor size doesn't have a huge impact on gas mileage. To a point you might even get better mileage with a bigger motor since it wont be working as hard to get it moving. What kinda of mileage do you get with the 6?

Re: Switching motors.. need advice
Thats great, dads old boss was one of those guys that has too much money for his own good, anyways he bought an old 70's rv thinking he could resell it on a profit. But has been siting at his lot for a year or two. Well anyways I might be able to buy the whole rv for $100 and it has a 454 in it.

Re: Switching motors.. need advice
Not sure if it will make it harder, but I'm pretty sure it will change your gas mileage but no clue how much.
We don't drive the Camaro too often anymore.
