Is $300 to much?

I stopped and asked a guy about a 72 longbox 2wd sitting behind his garage. I asked if it was for sale and he said he wanted to get rid of it. It is very rusty and really only good for parts. The whole body is pretty well shot as it has sat outside for 10+ years. It does have a 350 with a 350 auto and a factory 12 bolt posi rear. All of the glass is good and there are other knick knack items. I was just wondering if it was worth the hassle of picking up for $300? Thanks in advance.

Re: Is $300 to much?

posi rear should be worth the $300 asking price.

Re: Is $300 to much?

If you've got the room for it I'd say go for it, even if you pulled the good parts and scraped the rest, you would make money, but hey maybe it's worth saving to someone!

Re: Is $300 to much?

I'd guess so.

I bought my 69 3/4ton LWB for $250 and drove it home (scary drive home, but it made it)

Re: Is $300 to much?

At $300 buy it sight unseen and sort it out later. The worst you could do is break even on the scrap metal.

Re: Is $300 to much?

Kinda what I thought would be said. I have limited amount of space but if I could pick it up and blow it apart in a weekend it may be worth it. I really didn't know what the posi was worth and that was the first thing the owner talked about was that it had factory posi. It also has 15X7 truck rallys and a faded and mossy grille with no broken slats. I guess I will be picking it up and there may be some parts that wind up on here except for the rear end.

Re: Is $300 to much?

I sold a 69 that was a pile of rust with no engine or trans for 500 just for the doors. I'd say worth it.

If the 15x7 truck ralleys are 6 lug then they are worth the asking price alone....

Re: Is $300 to much?

For $300 I'd buy it pull any thing that may be savable and scrap the rest. A weekends worth of work and have little or no money left in parts sounds like a good deal to me.

For that price I'd pick up a couple buddies, a couple cases of beer, blow it apart in an afternoon and have fun!!

Re: Is $300 to much?

totally agree....300 is a steal for a 5 lug posi and the scrap metal is worth that as well...with the other small parts you can take off it, it's a no-brainer...

He's well aware. He has owned this truck for 15+ years. The SPID says posi as well. He parked it with hopes of finishing other projects first and just kinda forgot about it. Outta sight outta mind type of thing. I have known about it for years but just finaly had the chance to talk to him about it. It will be a little bit before I can get it picked up but I will post pics when I do.
