72 Steering Damper

Anyone had any good results with buying an aftermarket steering damper. I am looking for something that looks somewhat original. I saw some online from moog and Monroe that didn't look too bad.

Not sure on what brands are best, guess that would depend on which brand shock you like the best. Some people like to have that match the other 4 shocks on the truck. Some even like to run a double, (not sure what advantage that would be). My 72 already had one on it when I bought it.

Not even sure of the brand but it's an aftermarket shock I believe. It simply just clamps onto the center link. I'm actually getting ready to change it with the new front diff I'm installing.

I'm going with Rancho to match the rest of the setup, because I already have 4 adjustable rancho's on the truck.

i got one from autozone, but my steering box needs replacing so not sure how well that one works.

I like that one, it has nice shiny mounts!

One thing I like about the Monroe kit is that it worked well on my '71 with no factory brackets on the axle or steering rod, and it also is compatible with my '72 which has a factory bracket on the axle (but no factory bracket on the steering rod).

I ended up ordering my Monroe kit through my local O'Reilly Auto Parts.
