The more I learn....

The more I prefer to be in the dark!

So I decide that I like the 60-63 sail panels better than the 64-66 version that I had. I start looking for good ones on eBay and our forums. I missed out on a set last week, but got a good deal on another set on eBay a couple of days later.

Well, they show up today and I'm excited to mount them. As I hold them up to my truck, I notice that they don't fit right. Then it hits me....the ends are different!!! I thought they all fit the same. Grrrrr

Can someone tell me why that is? I'm including pictures of the ones I bought and my original ones. Are my new ones missing an end piece?

Re: The more I learn....

the 60-63 ones you have are for the ones that take the chrome strip ascross the back. That strip is next to impossible to find. I suggest looking for another set of sail panels

Re: The more I learn....

on a good note though - the ones you have are equally as rare as the missing chrome strip sigshooter mentions - so advertise them appropriately and sell big!

Haha, Jocko. That's kind of what I was thinking. When life gives you lemons...Make Lemonade!

I'll probably hold onto them in the hopes that I can find that back strip. I'm one of those guys that would pay a sizeable fee to have a rare accessory; sizeable being a relative term of course.

P.S. Thanks for the info, Sig.

Re: The more I learn....

I would hang on to them also..... If you are patient you may find one.

I didn't even know they existed until I saw to talk about them on this forum...... I told a buddy of mine who hits all the swap meets, backyards and old backroads to watch for them..... About a week later he told me where had a found a set in a junkyard that all the cars were coming up for auction. Long story short I bought mine for $65.00 from the guy that bought the truck.

I am working on having them reproduced using mine as a pattern/template, also the piece you are missing you might be able to find some other chrome that is the same width.
