Can you mix 58/59 hood and fenders with 55/56/57 cab?

Oooops, I am starting to realize a potential major problem. I found a very good 55 cab and still want to use my 59 front sheet metal. The hinge holes on the cab don't line up with the holes on the hinge. That's an easy fix but are the hood hinges on an early cab the right width for the 59 hood to mount? Oh boy, this is bad!?

You need 58 59 hood hinges.

Ok tHats what I have but the slots in the hinge aren't wide enough for the bolt holes on the cab. If I slot the 59 hinge, will everything work as advertised?

I've been working on getting the front sheet metal on for 2 weeks. Wish there was someone nearby that could give me pointers.

Not sure i understand your question completely but,
If your swapping a 55 cab onto your truck (59) hinges should be the only hurdle. Its been a few years but i had an entire 56 gmc front clip on a 59 suburban so i would think a 55 cab would work with 59 truck and front clip except for the differences between the hinges.

Thanks meter. So I'll just slot the hinges and move on.

Re: Can you mix 58/59 hood and fenders with 55/56/57 cab?

to clarify for you, the top hood bolt should be the same on both trucks. On the 1958-59 trucks the hood hinge lower bolt was moved down around 1/2"

for a few years I used a 1959 cab on my 1955 truck. I left the top bolt alone but had to redrill the lower hole.
as you mentioned, I just slotted the hinge and it was fine.
