Hi all,

I'm a new truck owner and new to the forum. Just picked up a 71 chevy longbed, fleetside. It'll be a daily driver so I'm cleaning it up as I go. On the passenger side below the fuel tank there is a bracket with a spring hanging off of it. I have no idea what this spring is supposed to hook to and I was hoping someone could help me out.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Re: Newby

Welcome to the board! It sounds like you are describing the hold down spring for the truck's mechanical bottle jack. It lays on the floor between the tank and right door post. Looked but I don't have a picture. Hopefully someone else will post one.

I posted some pictures in this old thread.

In the second picture of the jack I have it in backwards but I can't edit the post to correct it....

Re: Newby

Welcome to the forum, and I believe SS Tim is correct about it being the bottle jack (that's how mine is anyway).

Re: Newby

Thanks guys! Would have been easier to guess if there was a jack hooked to it. Or a tool bag... or a spare! Add it to the list of things to do.
