Just bought '72 Custom 10 Deluxe
Hey fellas, I just scooped up a '72 Chevy C10 Deluxe Long bed w/ 350. It rides rough and need good bit of body work. The glove box says colors were part of special promotion Bronze and White, but it looks more like a Cheerwine color in the cab and white. Though the body looks more brown now. BTW I gave $800 for the truck.
I hope to make it an every day driver. I currently drive an '01 GMC truck, but nothing beats the old school chevy trucks. I don't know much about the '72 so can y'all give me some fun or quick facts about these trucks? thanks a ton. |

Re: Just bought '72 Custom 10 Deluxe
welcome from Iowa! Nice truck! Can we see pics of the SPID in the glove box? Interesting
Mine is Medium Bronze / White. Never seen a Bronze / White. Yours should be two tone on the outside I think, with white middle on sides like mine. Someone maybe painted yours, looks like the Bronze is showing on the front of your hood! 72' is the last year for our style. It differs from the 71' slightly, mostly interior, cosmetic.

You are right it is med bronze/ white. I love the original paint. Not sure why they painted over it but even the cab and all has a really pretty cheerwine color to it. I'd love to go back original...i've never seen it before. Made my day on that. Also you're right the bronze is peeking through on the hood. I'll get up more pics tomorrow.

Re: Just bought '72 Custom 10 Deluxe
Thanks for the welcomes! I have a lot of fun just checking out picks on this site. I doubt I will pour a lot of money in my truck especially with two young daughters but I would love to get it running good and fast, yet look halfway decent to take my family out.

Here's what Med. Bronze / White should look like. Just so you know what's underneath.
This is what I'm painting mine soon, original. There's a couple more I'll be posting in my thread later. There's plenty of knowledgeable people here willing to help out. You found the right site to join.

Re: Just bought '72 Custom 10 Deluxe
The engine...does everything look in place? Former owner had to wire tie the dipstick to keep it from flopping around. Not sure all that has been done to it and neither was former owner.

Re: Just bought '72 Custom 10 Deluxe
Not sure what the "Special Promotion" is refering to, don't think it is the color combo. Maybe someone else can point it out. Looks like you have some interesting combinations on that SPID.

Re: Just bought '72 Custom 10 Deluxe
I was in a thread a while back that actually talked about the "Special Promotion", member Jocko
pointed it out in this thread. "Special Promotion" = Highlander (a unique combination of exterior / interior items). Though, through all my views of trucks - I've never seen a Highlander version in Med. Bronze / White. Wonder what color of plaid cloth was used for the bench seat?
