Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
Also had my buddy do the gasket on the back glass. Went with the chrome lock strip...came out awesome. Be doing the front windshield and wide 1960 trim next. The truck still had the original glass and ribbed gasket, which was in poor shape. My glass had some scratches, so the donar glass came from my 61 parts truck which had a perfect piece of glass and its OEM. Gasket came from Classic Parts and he had no problem with install. 1st one hes done like this and 40min start to finish. Th epinch weld under the gasket was still in factory condition, no rust or issues so out with the old and in with the new.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
If you can, please take plenty of photos of the windshield/trim install when it happens. Things like how hard was it to get the trim in the gasket, did the glass go in top or bottom first, problems with the corners, size of rope used, etc. There just isn't much available on the internet except before and after photos. I'm still trying to decide if I want to attempt mine myself, or try and find an experienced glass guy (which I would prefer). After all the time and money invested in the trim I just don't want to see it or the glass damaged during the installation.

Classic Parts of America. Came with the gasket...option was chrome or black. My front gasket I ordered from Steele.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
No problem. Took my buddy about 20min to put the lock strip in. He did 1/2 of the straight piece on the bottom, did the left side, then did the bottom left corner, back to the top straight piece, top left corner, rights side straight, top right corner, then the other bottom 1/2 straight piece, the bottom right corner then trimmed. This was just his method of madness, but your free to follow your own. Let me know how it turns out.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
Thank you sir. Hopefully get around to paint here in a few months. Been looking for another hood. I have found a real nice 61 bubble hood, but haven't decided that I want to go with the older hood or not yet

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
Have a look at markeb01's thread for a local 63 GMC. I posted a pic of it Tuesday, very nice, very original truck. The bedwood still has the SN burned into it. Nice to see another build that isn't being dropped below sea level

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
I saw that earlier on his thread. Nice looking truck. Although I plan to go with a big block, it'll still be a 3 on the tree. I dont want to change the interior/exterior, just disc brakes and a larger powerplant. Im in need of a hood and the only decent one I found was a 61. May put it on and sell it later once I find a 62-66 locally.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
Thanks. Ive had a couple of trucks over the years. Ive spent alot of time looking for some of the harder to find parts, then Ive always gotten rid of them. Ive decided to keep this one for myself, so Im putting all the toys on it that Ive always wanted. I agree....you dont see many people go with the chrome lock strip...I dont know why...I think it looks great. Even on a primered truck.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
I like the way the sun twinkles on the upper edge! I would love to go that route as well, but mine has a sliding window, which I really like. I don't like the look, but I like the air flow!

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
Should be the same lock strip if its the small back window. Th elock strip was a few inches long and had to be trimmed. I dont know that you can get the lock strip seperate though.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
Found an OEM headlight knob and wiper switch w/washer option. Converting the truck from single speed motor to two speed w/washer. The OEM knobs have a stainless steel cap and polished up nice

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
i two wanted to convert my single speed wiper to the type with washer, but i dont have any pics of how the nozzle attaches or how they look. i can get most of the parts i.e. wiper motor with pump, the button with the squirt plunger, and the bottle hanger. if you have pics of the stepup that would be awesome, and what other parts i need like the wiring and hoses and such. thks

Also...got the 60-61 wide windshield trim in. Will start polishing it tonight and install in a few weeks. Got rid of the 1/2" wide trim in place for the 1" trim.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
Haha...right. Has taken awhile, but finally have a complete set of custom knobs. Have noticed alot of difference in the repop knobs. I still have the Choke cable & knob to mount, but have done the conversion on the linkage already.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
Been moving into the new house, so haven't had much time to do anything but put gas in her. I have been working on the dash clock here and there. Trying to decide what color to go with. Have cleaned and relubed the clock mech and glass. Done a functions check and holds to within a minute or less over the last two weeks.
