Calling those with shift kit experience...

Ok so ive got a leak from my trans pan gasket and figured id take this time to replace it and add a shift kit to it. Ive been doing some reading and it seems everyone is recommending transgo over b&m, everyone agree? Now as far as installing is this something I can do with the trans still in the truck? How simple is the kit to install?

If you have good mechanical ablity you can do the shift kit. You can do it with it in the truck as long as you don't mind trans fluid running down your arm pits
Just be sure you keep it all clean and get the check balls back in the right place.
I have had goodluck with both kits. If you are looking for hard shifts B&M is the one you want.

If you want hard shifts go with transgo. It's better than b&m and I've tried both.

Just remember that the torque specs are in inch pounds not foot pounds. My friend made this over sight and we spent a couple hours with heli coils and such

I prefer the TransGo.
Get some transgel to hold the check balls in place when putting the spacer plate / valve body back up on the trans. Will make it alot easier. Oh, and stuff rags down your arm pits....

A few sweat bands work good too haha
