help with fuel filler
Help please,
I have relocated the tank to spare tire location. I need a creative solution to the filler neck and cap which is currently flopping around in the hole cut in the bed. (rear drivers side at inside corner of wheel well) I need a several inches so fuel doesnt splash back from the elbow when fillling..Im thinking a custom box of some sort, or if anyone has found a filler door, cap, neck combo that would work I'd love to see what you have done. 1972 Highlander...thanks in advance!: |

I had a buddy make a box that I put the stock rubber grommet in and the neck through. like stock. The top of it was at a 45 degree angle and the box was like 5'' square. I don't have any pics sorry. I liked it but I added a vinyl bed cover w/ aluminum frame and snaps. I didn't like un snapping it every time I filled up.

Find yourself a donor, late 80's chevy pick up or suburban, and scavenge the fuel door, hose and vent hose. They fit perfectly. Easy peazy...

I used a 45 degree marine filler neck and made a little enclosure for it tucked just inside the bed.

My tank and filler are from an 80's Blazer. Think the cover/wedge came from the same rig. I cut it in half width wise and added about an extra 2-3 inches to extend it after I welded in the mid 90's Chevy fuel door. Filler hose fits nicely between the frame and bottom of the bed.

Check out the project silver dollar build. mrhino had a pretty discreet option for a filler. I also did this on mine and I like how it looks, although I think I need to play around with the slope of the lines as it is slow filling.
