My attempt at PS

OK after extensive review and study of Capts PS application heres my attempt at it. Sorry Capt I know yours is tried and true but I just had to give it a try. After all it was your design that nudged me to give it an attempt. All cutting was done on band saw with a lot of messaging with 4" grinder and file. Spacers cut from plate steel and trued on drill press which improvised as vertical lathe. Still need to weld spacer to PS plate. Will update as I progress on install.

Re: My attempt at PS

OK as I progress in my fab up of parts I thought,it would be cool to be able to pull column without having to pull steering wheel. So I came up with this. Use intermediate shaft from the later truck from rag joint to column. My thinking is if I ever want to upgrade to newer tilt keyed column the shaft will be in place.

Re: My attempt at PS

OK in these box is mounted and shaft fitted from column to box. One question I have about pitman arm tapered shaft, the one that is on this box has no cotter pin hole to retain castle nut. Has anyone ever run into one of these? The box came off of a 85-87 Suburban if that makes any difference.

Re: My attempt at PS

OK this will complete my post here I mounted PS pump and installed hoses. Topped of with PS fluid and spun engine check for leaks. Everything works just fine but have one question in other post I have read that idler arm needs relocating. At this point of my install I have not done this suggestion. It is the original idler arm from the 65 GMC that I currently have in place. Nothing binds or hits anywhere everything straight and level. What should I be looking for to justify this additional modification? What is the purpose for relocating can someone elaborate. One additional note thanks Capt. for posting your info which I used as reference along the way even though I didn't purchase your parts your post and information within served me well. Again Thanks!!

Re: My attempt at PS

You only need to relocate the idler arm if you are upgrading to the '71-'87 steering linkage and idler arm.
