Re: I need a help!!!

Anything can be done to a truck with enough time and money.

Both of those things can be done. Depends on your skill or budget.

There are companies that do the AC thing. Look into vintage air for one.

I am not sure about the transmission swap, but I imagine that you just get a manual tranny that works with your engine and cut a hole in your floor. May have to change your steering column too.

x2. Anything can be done with the right application of time, money and/or skill. (pick no more than two; money trumps time and/or skill).

Regarding the trans question: floor shift is pretty easy. You can buy the appropriate shifter (3 speed or, if you go to a four speed trans then a 4 speed shifter) and cut the hole in the floor. As far as the steering column, you can (a) just leave the bump (b) cut the bump off and mount a nice Sun tach there to cover the hole - ask me how I know that one - or (c) change the column out.

It's likely a Saginaw 3 speed, so a Saginaw 4 speed is available through the aftermarket and is a slam dunk installation.

Lastly - a '79 6 cylinder would be a straight six (not a V6) unless someone has changed the engine.

Re: I need a help!!!

Are all transmissions manual/automatic compatible? Can I put a stick on my currently automatic TH350?

Re: I need a help!!!

Did the truck come with AC from the factory or was it a none AC truck? I would say 90% or more of the people who replace their engine never hook the AC back up for whatever reason.

If the truck had AC, sure you can put a compressor on it (condenser is probably still there) and put the lines back in place and could get it to work for a few $100 and a trip to a mechanic shop that does AC work.

If the truck never has had AC, you'll have to go a different route like vintage AC or something.

Ummm. You can put a floor shifter in if you like, but you'd not have a clutch pedal like a standard transmission would have.

Have you considered skipping this truck, and looking for one with a four speed and A/C already installed? You would probably save a ton of money, instead of retrofitting this stuff.

He already has a manual transmission, not an automatic. He just wants to move the shifter from the column to the floor if I read it correctly. Keith's answer is spot on for that part. Four speed saginaws are abundant really, even I have one laying around somehow...

On the hunt for a long bed stepper? Had one on craigslist here about 6 months ago I kept eyeballing, was yellow and white.

Re: I need a help!!!

Wow, nice looking truck!

As was mentioned above, moving the shifter to the floor is not hard. I personally haven't installed an aftermarket A/C, but a lot of hot rodders do it.

Good luck!
