Cause of hard brake pedal?

The brakes have been fine on my old truck until yesterday. Coming home from work the pedal got realy hard and it took some extra time to get the truck to stop. Checked the fluid level when i got home and it was fine. What would cause this issue?

Check your vacuum connections to the booster first.

Re: Cause of hard brake pedal?

I am having the same problem with my 72 C30 just changed the master cylr.thought that was the issue but I'll check my hoses too. Does any know what kind of booster came stock on them??? And if it is connected to the power steering or the engine?

Re: Cause of hard brake pedal?

These trucks, okay most of the 1-ton and under, had vacuum power brakes. Once you get over a ton (C-40 and up, plus a few C-30's) they may have another type, but not necessarily. I don't have my book in front of me, and I don't want to go on record for having lied.
