Re: i think this is a sweet Custom Camper Longhorn (ebay, not mine)

did 69's not have a "Custom Camper" or--- I guess it was "Camper Special" (I always forget which...) script on the doors by the handles??

If not, which years had those scripts, and can one of you big truck guys remind which is the correct terminology? Was "Custom Camper" the option and "Camper Special" the script that was on the door if you selected that option?

I'm not sure how or why, but the 3/4 tonnage is starting to grow on me... I need an 8 car garage. And 7 more trucks. And a lot of money.

Ha! Unfortunately, I lack room AND funds.
Thanks - but that's the fender trim isn't it? I was curious about the door trim - is that a 71/2 thing only (the Camper Special door trim)?

Re: i think this is a sweet Custom Camper Longhorn (ebay, not mine)

or is the "Camper Special" trim for a truck with the camping package only...

EDIT: Found my answer - through 72, it was Custom Camper - and so was the door molding in 71/2 (like the fender molding you showed, just script and smaller) and the SPID RPO.
Chev switched to Camper Special in 72....

Re: i think this is a sweet Custom Camper Longhorn (ebay, not mine)

There is not a real clear order of supersession on the fender emblem vs door script. Seen it both ways in pictures I have of original trucks. A '71 Cheyenne/30 with CC/30 fender emblems and Billy's '72 Cheyenne Super/30 with door scripts. Another is a '72 Cheyenne/30 with door scripts. Then there is a '72 Custom Deluxe/30 with door scripts as well.
We dug deep into this before and I think it is buried in one of thses two links. If not it is good reading to draw you over to the dark side.

I like this truck also...so much so I called and asked for the reserve.

$20,000.

Seems a little high to me but if it really is a super low mileage in such great shape maybe not.

Re: i think this is a sweet Custom Camper Longhorn (ebay, not mine)

I wondered if that was the case. I was dog tired and just typed a simple statement. I never figured any rhyme or reason to the door script vs fender badge thing. I have had trucks both ways that were close to identical trucks. The SPID says Custom Camper Nameplate on one that was a '71 Cheyenne and said nothing Cheyenne anywhere on the truck, just Custom Camper/20 on the fender. The other with door script says Custom Camper Equip. But,SPIDS are typed differently. The dealer ordering book lists the Z81 option as Custom Camper Nameplate. Both are nameplates.

I believe that truck is a members? I seem to recall he maybe even had two almost the same? Does anyone else remember that? It is very nice, and I'd like to get in line after SS Tim for anyone who would like to buy it for someone else. Thanks in advance

If you're referring to one of these . . . neither one is exactly like the one on eBay now.
