Brought home a '68 C30!!!

I've kinda been looking around for cheap beater these past few months and I came across this one ton. I just loved the look of it and had to have it. I know with my stalled projects this isn't what I needed, but couldn't help myself. It's a disease! Thought I'd share.

I have a new windshield ready to go in, I have to fix a small rust hole first. I also got it running after it had been sitting for 15 years. Another tank, new fuel line, new pump, and she started right up. Once I get some pulleys I should be able to finish her up.

Here's some pics when I first got her and before I washed her real good. Had a 11 foot bed where the seller said there was a camper on.

Plans as of now are to keep it cheap, I want to find an older service bed (like Angelo's) and bring it down a bit. Definitely leaving the cab forward alone.

Re: Brought home a '68 C30!!!

I think without the grille guard it would look real cool as it sits sans bed. Nice truck.

Thanks! I'm having a hard time finding a bed I like, but I haven't been looking long.

Thanks, I agree without the grille guard it would look good, but it's not going anywhere! It belongs there!

I think I vaguely remember somebody taking a C-30, putting a LWB fleetside bed on it, and then bolting some stepside fenders to the outside of the bed.

With some minor modifications it would probably look pretty good, and might be worth a shot!

Nice old truck, either way. Congratulations!

That was my first plan, but 1, I probably couldn't match the patina to make it look original. 2, since it's a cab and chassis the rear isn't wide enough to fill out the dually fenders. Unless I swap out rears. Thanks!

Yeah I know! It's got everything I wouldn't put on one of my half tons, but love the look on this truck!

Awsome truck! Always glad to see another one ton being saved... And that one looks like it's survived pretty well over the years!

You could always do this to it...

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=260748

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=307114

That's what I'm going to do if I find a decent C-30.

Re: Brought home a '68 C30!!!

I really, really dig the black under the blue showing on the hood. You could do a nice distressed shop logo on the doors with that patina. Gonna be a great looker no matter what you do...

Re: Brought home a '68 C30!!!

That's a great driver,as is. Just needs a bed and I am all about service bodies. That grille guard no doubt belongs, too. If you find a single wheel utility bed it'll just need the rubber fender lips and mini tubs in the bed (4" maybe),like the dual rear ones have. But a single wheel is less bulky and is no wider than the cab.
