52 5 window
i have a 97 s 10 ext cab pickup i was doing the frame swap to my 52 .and i was wondering because of the ext cab would i have to cut frame down some and if so how much and where. thanks

Nothings wrong.I just wanted to swap because it's cheaper than the mustang 2 swap.how much do I have to cut and where.

I always thought it was the older body style 83-88 S10 single cab long box that was the desired one to swap? And preferably a 4x4.
But... your best bet is to go grab the dimensions of the existing chassis from the Shop Manual and then lay everything out on your new frame. Or there's a wealth of info here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...light=s10+swap |

Preferably use a regular cab long bed s10. Ive seen people use the extended cab frame, but not sure how much was cut.
I used a 98 regular cab long bed frame. Feel free to PM with any questions

i just cut down an ext cab frame, took out 5inches reight behind the factory joint up front.

Long bed standard cab frame is the best and most used chassis. I used a short wheel base frame for my 50, had to add a few inches in the middle to make it work.
My stock frame was hacked to death and not safe for anything but the scrap yard. If, my stock frame had been in better shape I would have used it along with some sort of aftermarket front end. Much easier to work with a stock frame than trying to fit everything to an S-10 frame.

I used an 88 extended cab short box 4x4 for mine and didn't have to cut the center. I did have to take some off the front and back though. The wheel base is 1" longer than a 51 and the axles are 1" narrow than a 51.
