That 212/218 cam will work good in a daily driver style truck. You can pick up that cam and some ls6 yellow springs. You don't have to change the lifters as they are roller lifters and in a 03 model it doesn't have dod. Truck intake should work well with that cam and will keep low end torque. The 243's are a great flowing head and for this setup
I wouldn't have them porter but would have them milled to
keep your compression ratio up. If memory serves
me right the 243's are 64cc and the 5.3 heads are around 60cc.
