Metal guide on bottom of door ????

I have a couple of long metal guides(?) that screw to the bottom of TF doors that I'm not sure about. They are over two feet long and would reach almost the full length of the door. Those were gone when I got my truck so I have not seen them installed. I have bought a set but I'm not exactly sure how they go. Anyone have a pic of doors with them installed?

Those are to protect and retain the rubber seal, every truck I have seen they were rusted beyond recognition, do not recall ever seeing them re installed.

My truck doors had them installed, they just screw on and hold the seal in place. I'm replacing mine with stainless parts

Me too. Available at all the regular TF parts sources.

Mine were completely rusted away too. I think the screws and a piece of metal under the screw were left, I didn't realize it was a bar.

I have new stainless ones also. I have my doors off of my truck right now to do some paint work on them and put the new weather stripping on. I replaced the door bottoms so had to drill the holes for the plastic pins in the rubber to go into. I can't put the rubber on permanety yet but when I hold it in place and try to hold that stainless part in place it looks like it covers most of the rubber seal. It appears that it might hit the step when the door is closed. I've never seen an original so I don't know how accurate these replacements are.
I'd still like to see a pic of an original door with these installed.

Re: Metal guide on bottom of door ????

I installed the new ones the way the old ones came off. I used wide head self tapping screws meant for metal wall studs to mount them. They just hold the weatherstrip to keep it from sagging.

Re: Metal guide on bottom of door ????

Thanks for that pic. I would rather drill all the holes before I paint the door but in this case I think I will wait until I paint it and permanetly install the weather stripping. Then I can position the guide and drill the holes to mount it.

I wonder if the first TF's had this. It kind of looks like something that was added later to addess a problem with saggging weather strip.
