Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod
Picked up some slam ss6 bags for the front today. The ss7 didn't look much smaller that my dominators. The ss6 has one inch less max height but that's not a problem. Right now with the dominators, my front end lifts almost up to stock height. Way more lift than I need anyways. The slam ss6 will also give me a bit stiffer ride at ride height because of the higher pressure needed to get there. That's fine with me though. I found the d2600 dominators to be a little to floaty and soft anyways. And I'll have an inch clearance around the bag to the wall of my cups and I won't have to ever worry about rubbing.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod
Got the ss6 bags in the front today. Sure takes a lot more air pressure to get the thing up to ride height. I think I might have to try the ss7 bags and hope they don't rub. All this trial and error is getting annoying to be honest, and expensive!

What about spacing the ss6's up an inch?

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod
That's what I was thinking. As long as they arnt fully collapsing when it's aired out, I could put a spacer underneath them to give it more lift. I assume that would help.

Flow tech 11108 I believe. 1967 camaro/chevelle shorty headers. My plug wires are angled heads 90 degrees and they fit with room to spare. I believe you are correct if u have straight wire boots then you might have problems with one or two of the cylinders.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod
You can also get shorty spark plugs designed for header applications. They are simply shorter and give you more room to work with. Champion RV92YC #930 shorty plugs are what I was told to use for my sbc 350. I think they are listed under marine applications but apparently a lot of hot rodders use them for clearance issues.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod
You have some slam 7's? Well assuming KMS hasn't lost them while transfering them from Vancouver to Kelowna... Hahaha maybe I will need yours! I've already paid for the ones at KMS. Supposed to be here almost 2 weeks ago.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod
Yes all the small block Chevy motors are the same. All the car frames are different. Since they don't make a proper header for our lowered trucks, the next closest frame match is the 67-69 Camaro and Chevelle.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod
Finally got my slam ss7 front bags today. Hopefully get them installed tomorrow. These ss6's just don't have any power to lift the front end at 150psi. If I was running 175psi then they might be ok. My compressors aren't rated for it though. If I can get these new slams installed then I can get my front shocks and height sensors installed finally.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod
400c viairs that came with my Accuair kit. They are rated max 150psi. I have heard of people running them at 175 but I don't know what that's going to do to my compressor life span. I can adjust my pressure on my remote easily if I wanted to. It's got 150, 175 and 200psi setting.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod
Got the ss7 bags in the front. 100% improvement and lots of lift. Those ss6's are just too small to lift the heavy front end. Rides awesome at all heights.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod
All up. After the drop spindles go in, the front won't lift quite so high as it does now. 2" less lift because of 2" more drop

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod
Next step is get the front shocks mounted and get the ride height sensors mounted so I can use the preset heights and ride control features.
