Changing interior?

Ok i am a new member but long time chevy truck fan. At the beginning of the week i scored a near mint k5 blazer for $800. The truck is my dream ride and is in amazing shape. Zero rust or dirt. Never been offroad, top has never been off, and the carpet and seats still in great shape. The bad is it has a spun rod bearing.

It is black on black but the interior is maroon.......circa 1985....ugh! Its just not me, and it smells like my grandmas buick. Anyone ever pulled the plastic interior out. My 79 k5 is mostly metal on the interior and i like the simplicity of it all. I want to remove the carpet and do the floor in spray on bedliner. I want to pull the panels off and see what it look like under. Hoping there is little glue. Wanting to go black and aluminum on the new interior. I searched a little but there arnt a great deal of good interior threads.

Re: Changing interior?

some parts may not be body colour
but if your painting it won't matter
screws holes all over the place tho
and it's much quieter with it there

I've heard more people regret putting bedliner on the their floorboards than people who say it's a good idea. Removing the carpet and padding you'll lose all your sound insulation and heat insulation. I've actually heard of guys saying after they removed the carpet and padding and put bedliner down it is so hot their feet burn while driving.

Re: Changing interior?

if this blazer is as mint as you describe, gutting the tinterior and doing bedliner would be a shame
