Rus, if you had to guess what has happened, I bet you'd be right. OF COURSE, I spent all sunday afternoon researching headers......and, OF COURSE I ordered a set. Hedman has started making a shorty header for our trucks as part of their "Street Headers" line. Part #69010. Summit doesn't even have them yet. Luckily, JEGS does, and mine will be here tomorrow!!! If I have enough time before church, I'll mock em up and post some pics. If not, I'll do it for sure on Thursday night. BTW, headers were $199 plus shipping, ended up being like $216 total. They are plain steel, but I've been doing some checking and Eastwood sells a ceramic coating tht you brush on, and it is supposed to last like twice as long, according to a guy I know who's actually used it.

Re: Cubber's Build Thread

Yep, the guy finally came and got the ol' sixer. FINALLY. while we were waiting on him, we worked on the core support. The first one is the old one and shows the rust, the second is the one I cleaned and painted the bottom of.

Look a few pages back. There are several. I went with all Porterbuilt stuff. If you need to see something specific, let me know, and I will try to post soon. I'm at work, and away from my computer.

Guess what? Got home from church, and just couldn't wait. For once, the advertising is right-these are made to fit this truck!

One end is tweaked, out past where it bolts to the frame.

The plugs are actually straight. Blame it on weird cell phone pic angle. The casting is 440, though.

The problem with that is that the paint on em is just for protection during storage and installtion. According to the paperwork, it will burn off in the first few minutes of running the engine, and rust during the next few, I bet.

Another question...which core support would you use....one that needed rust repair on both sides and in the center (not bad, just some) or one that was less rusty but bent back on one side? I think it could be bent back out, but you know how that goes.
