Do you plan on lowering the truck at all or are you wanting to keep it stock height?
If he really did heat the springs or even cut off some rungs on the back you might want to check the front springs also to see if those were cut or heated. That way you can figure out if the truck is actually at stock height or lowered incorrectly. The maximum drop you can do on the front with just a drop spring is 2" on the stock spindle. If you want to go lower then that you will need to buy some drop spindles.
