Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

yeah, I'm like that with my GTO. I'm less like that now than I was before I got married. Thank you for the kind words. She's my baby. Been with me since '98 and started out white. I did my time (year and a half) at a body shop learning the trade, and my dad taught me a lot mechanically before I took auto shop in high school. I've learned a lot with her and she's the only thing I told my wife I'd never get rid of. Too many memories tied to that car for me to let her leave. I think that's why Kristen is still afraid of her (or me ).

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

yeah man I agree there's something about the blood, sweat, tears, cussing, beer drinking, hitting, all the emotions we experience with it that ties us to our cars one way or another.

With my build I'm learning along the way, I've always loved cars/trucks just like most men but never been too mechanically inclined in that area, I always try to fix it first before anyone else gets involved unless I just know I can't then I make a few phone calls. I must say though it's been a blast hard work and effort makes you always appreciate the things you do to them.

They both look sharp man! Absolutely beautiful cars!

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

Unfortunately my funds are so tight I won't be able to do much to the truck until the end of the summer. I did subscribe to the forum though, so I can at least say I've supported this addiction of ours. I'll just be trying to enjoy it as much as possible until then. Since I'm in the Houston area, that generally means that I won't get to "enjoy" it much because the truck doesn't have A/C and it's awful here in the summer without it. Humidity is a killer...

On the plus side, I'll get to enjoy the GTO more since it does have A/C. I've been feeling like I've been neglecting her anyway.

When I do make some minor changes, I'll be sure to keep you all updated. They will be minor (read: cheap) updates though, so it probably won't be often, or very impressive. Or at least not that I can anticipate anyway.

Yeah how about this lovely Texas weather past 2 days I feel like I'm slowly dying

Woohoo!!! Gotta show love to both the toys

It's all good man we all run into financial issues tight funds so on and so forth, just remember some of those minor changes might be the ones to set the truck off!

Not an update, but took one of my dogs, Ash, to the vet this past Saturday. She enjoyed the ride, sat right next to me the whole way there and back.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

Small update... I added a factory style emblem to my billet grille.

This is a compromise between my wife and I. I like the factory grille and she likes the billet grille. I might still switch to factory, but this will work for now. It might grow on me... we'll see.

What do you guys think?

I've grown more fond of the factory grille but I have to admit that Chevy logo with the Billet grille does look pretty sweet my man!

Thanks Korwin. It's growing on me too. I like it more with the emblem than without, that's for sure.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

It's been too long since I've done anything to the truck. I think I'm going through withdrawals!

I did place an order with Travis at Pro Performance for the Porter Built 1" forward lower control arms, billet coil spring adapters and 1.25" sway bar. The sway bar should be here soon, but waiting on the control arms to be built.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

OK, so I ordered the vintage air kit from Laidbackrestorations during their "huge vintage air sale". They got me a really good deal, so I couldn't pass it up. A big thanks to Sarah for helping me place the order. She and Kyle seem to be on a great start to their new business.

I also ordered some SS7 bags, plates, cups, air line and fittings with schrader valves for the rear for right now. Air management will be a lot later down the line since it's such a big expense. At least the rear bags will help me pull a loaded trailer without sagging too badly. Another big thanks to Travis of ProPerformance for helping me order those parts too. I should be getting the PB LCAs and rear bag parts around the same time in August, I'm assuming.

Hopefully I won't have to wait forever to get these parts installed. I've been pretty busy with work and things around the house that the classics aren't getting a lot of attention. Just driving them around once in a while. That's always fun though.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

Just caught up on your build thread Duane, beautiful truck you have and also love your GTO as well. Your wife and mine have the same name and its funny its actually spelled the same way, I only say that because my wife always complains that everybody try's to spell it with an in at the end instead of en. Glad to see you decided to go with Bags on your truck, can't wait to see some more updates.

Thanks! It's a repaint of the factory "medium blue". I think I'll keep it that color when I finally get to tearing into it to fix some of the poor body work. For now, I'm happy driving it like it is.

As a fellow ducks fan, I'm looking forward to this season! I was actually born in Eugene and grew up in Klamath Falls. Graduated from Oregon Tech too.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

Thanks Keith! My wife complains about that same thing. I guess it's more common than we thought.

I wanted to go with bags because I plan on using the truck as a truck, which may occasionally include towing a load. I'm worried about the coils not holding up to towing a car (my next project in the future, when I get another). I'm leaving the frame as is so I don't weaken it with a c-notch, and I don't want to raise the bed floor so a step notch is out too. Since I don't plan on laying frame, I think it will be great! It should be low enough that it doesn't look goofy, but not so low that I need to modify the frame. I just wish I had more money so I could get the accuair i-level system in it.

My rear bags, fittings, cups and air line came in today! A big thanks Travis of ProPerformance for the help and quick delivery. Too bad it's raining and I don't have garage space to install them tonight.

My Vintage Air kit showed up yesterday! I've got to figure out a good time to take the truck out of commission so I can do the install.
