1977 K10 Wipers Won't Turn Off

So I Just pulled my '77 Silverado out after it sat in storage for two years and the wipers started running as soon as I turned the key on. I unplugged the motor but as soon as you plug it in (with the ignition turned on) they start running again. I am electrically retarded and any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm driving my truck from MN to VA in a few days and would like to resolve this problem before I go. Thanks much.

Pretty positive that it will be the wiper switch itself, pretty easy to swap, just plug in a new one/different one. Should fix it.

Re: 1977 K10 Wipers Won't Turn Off

nine out of ten it is the "park" switch in the wiper motor unit. This is what make the wipers stop at the bottom of the windshield when you turn to wiper motor off. You said the wipers started right after you placed the key switch to "on". If you did not touch the wiper control switch it is most likley the park/stop switch inside the wiper motor unit.

Not to hijack his thread
but when i switched my front end from a 74 to 82, well i had to change my wiper linkage
now the only thing is that if im driving fast enough or i hit a bump, my wipers will go from their off position to about half of the full swing
So it could be my park/stop position switch?

that's what a guy told me yesterday. He said he'd sell wiper motors all the time for the same problem. Probly gonna go order a new wiper motor today. I'll let you know if that doesn't do it. Thanks guys.
