Let's see your aftermarket or non stock steering wheel!!

I am a bit undecided about which way to go with buying a new steering wheel. I really wanted a comfort grip style wheel, but before I buy one I want to see some more options. So what are you guys running in your truck?

Re: Let's see your aftermarket or non stock steering wheel!!

When I did mine, I wanted to get away from the school bus size wheel and yet be inexpensive. I went with a mid 70's style Camaro LT wheel. Perfect size and cushy grip. There are way better looking wheels out there but man can they get spendy.

Re: Let's see your aftermarket or non stock steering wheel!!

I bought a Grant/14 in. dia. mahogany wood finger grip touring GT steering wheel with 4 silver anodized aluminum spokes. I like the look and feeling of it. I don't have a picture of it installed though. I got it from Auto Zone. Though, I believe it was on sale in the store when I bought it. Sure didn't pay what they are asking online.

I bought a Corvette wheel a long time ago from Eckler's. leather wraped. I put the cheap cover over it because I had, had surgery on both hands and it was a nice feel not having my fingers all wrapped around the wheel. My grip ant all it use to be now either.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Let's see your aftermarket or non stock steering wheel!!

I bought this one from Impy's hot rod parts for my CST. It was pricey but worth it since it looks good and is FULLY leather wrapped. Most comfortable wheel I've ever had. The picture was taken when the wheel was turned but you get the idea...on my other trucks, I use a Chevy van wheel.....

Re: Let's see your aftermarket or non stock steering wheel!!

Wife bought me mine for Christmas 3 or 4 years ago. She called Summitt Racing to order it and the man started asking her questions about the truck so she had him call my bud so he could send the right one. I thought that was going above and beyond for service. Its aLeCarra double spoke and I realy like it and the leather and feel on these is top notch.

That is the same as the one I posted... I'm glad to see it in a truck, I hated to order it blind. It's for my wife, she prefers the 'GT', but she likes the 'double slot' too. I'm replacing the blue bench with a white leather 40/20/40 from discount van truck so looking at the white leather Lecarra to match.

Do you know if yours is the 'thick' or 'regular' grip?

I just found the invoice and she ordered it Oct 16th, 2006 and I do not see anything on the invoice about thick or regular grip. The Part # on Summits Invoice is LAC-96201 if that helps. Sorry Shawn to get a little off subject on your thread.

It does... it had me look at the lecarra website again and found out that only the GT I'm looking at comes with the 'thick' (1.5" instead of 1.25") grip option! Thanks for the info, I do love the way it looks mounted in your truck.

and I'm sorry to have gone OT in the thread too Shawn.

I've posted this before. If anyone likes it, I can go pop the horn ring off and tell you the name. It's Italian. I used a (easily modified) Grant adapter and horn ring. I like the leather and wood deal. I like stock. I like 'em all!

Re: Let's see your aftermarket or non stock steering wheel!!

I have an old school (from when I was a teen lol) foam type wheel with the three spokes with the round holes in em. That one is going in my panel.

I have a fancy pants (to me) Grant three spoke wheel in my Unibody. Ill be switching that one out to something more 60's when I decided which color Im going to be doing the paint and interior. Its on a Chevy column so Ill probably put it up for sale here ... eventually =)
