Re: Project 30 years sitting
Productive day yesterday....
Frame horns fixed with parts from a board member I got a while back. Pass door hinges replaced from a board member I got a while back. rear shocks installed due to frame horns getting fixed, I could finally bolt down the front and install fenderwells with bolts I got from board member Brian A. This morning I ordered my tires plan to work on my exhaust more, rewire my fuel pump relay I fubar'd. Maybe get the grill installed. Depends on how many people come help. |

Re: Project 30 years sitting
Got the tires on it, looks like a 4x4 now.
Went to run it off the new tank/electric pump tonight. Blew out the carb gaskets. The inline regulator was suppose to be pre-set at 7psi, but somehow got up to 10-12'ish and sprayed fuel everywhere. |

In this first image. Can someone tell me the name of this part?
2nd image is all thats left of my exhaust build. I would say I designed it fairly well. |

Re: Project 30 years sitting
Is that the top of the door window frame? If it is there is a plastic piece that goes there to close off the cut end of the window frame.

Re: Project 30 years sitting
Thats where the "a"post joins with the removable top. I have the plastic thing on both doors. But this metal thing, I only have it on the pass side.

Re: Project 30 years sitting
I think that was part of the original seal set for the top where it meets the door glass. I think the new ones are made differently and if needed, the metal part should come with the new seals.

Re: Project 30 years sitting
Congratulations! Getting it to move under its own power is always a plus. Sounds pretty good, if a bit doggie. Didn't sound like much with carb issues though. Might just need more advance on the timing. I like how the exhaust sounds.

Re: Project 30 years sitting
Still working on it running right issues. We can get it to idle and rev great in park. But you put it in gear and put a load on it, and it just bogs down n stalls.
But I did drive it around the neighborhood in the snow/ice since you dont need to go fast anyway. Lots of looks, smiles, and waves Ordered the bolts and spacers for a body lift. Wow that was expensive Still need to order the new mounts. Last edited by Dale99; 12-27-2012 at 06:07 PM. |

Re: Project 30 years sitting
Sounds like a vacuum leak. Check the hoses and connections, also the brake booster and around carb and manifold. You guys have more snow than we do, but I bet its warmer.

Re: Project 30 years sitting
When we first started it, we slowly connected things checking vac. As we have added, nothing changed.

Re: Project 30 years sitting
Got a vac gauge? It changes with timing also, or if a valve is out of adjustment. Same symptoms I had with my jimmy. I had to adjust the valves to get the vacuum back.

Re: Project 30 years sitting
Yea, we have had a gauge on it while adding all the stuff. I installed an incab one so I can monitor while driving.

Re: Project 30 years sitting
Sounds like you have that covered then. Good luck with the rest of the tuning. I've got a carb rebuild kit sitting on my air filter right now so when the day comes I can actually take it for a drive I'll have it ready.
