Auto or Manual hubs? Which do I install? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Alright, I just swapped in a 12 bolt truck rear end and also the matching 10 bolt front, now this came out of a full-time 4x4 so the front axles don't have hubs in them. I have the factory auto hubs in the other axle which worked fine before, or I can install a set of Warn manual hubs I got with the axles, which ones should I install? I hear the manual hubs will be a lot stronger and probably help gas mileage and decrease wear on my front axles.

Manuals, all 3 of mine got it, so what if you have to get out and lock or unlock them.Just my 2 cents

Manual all the way! If its winter, you can just leave them locked in so you dont have to get out every time you put it in 4wd. Plus auto hubs aren't anywhere near as reliable. My dad's Ford has autos, I prefer my manuals much more.

Welp thats what I put in, I think they look better too. Now after my axle swap my steering wheel is all whack hehe. I did use the tie-rod off my old axle though so hopefully my alignment wouldn't be too far off. Luckily its actually pretty good, but i'm going to get it aligned anyway.

I prefere the manual ones too, My wife would beg to difer since she dont like the cold, all I hear is when are you going to put auto hubs in so I dont have to get out in the cold.

LOL, making your wife lock in your hubs, too bad I don't have anybody to do that for me unless one of my friends is riding with me.

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm
