Build Thread------1972 c10------Mean Green-

Well I am officially the 3rd owner of this '72. I added a longbed to the collection of SWB's. I have future plans for this truck but it should be a fun cruiser. The 350 rode smooth on the 4 hour ride home. Seems to be a solid truck. Now time to get some parts and get her legal.... Oh yeah and work on the interior...

What you guys think? Should I throw some lowering springs on it and make it the parts runner or do I make it a everyday driver with trim, badges, etc.

Pretty good looking truck. You can take it to Kansas and leave it in my driveway.

Re: 1972 c10 -

If you don't mind me asking. Where did you pick that one up? And what you end of giving for it. I wouldn't mind finding me a long bed in that condition to drive.

Re: 1972 c10 -

It originally came from St. Louis. My dads buddy owned it and I picked it up off of him. I traded a truck that I had around 2500 into. The sad part is they welded up all the trim holes and painted over the top but didn't do to much body work to get it right. Also painted the interior with some off color green. So I ordered some parts and picked up emblems and steering wheel and I'm going to dive into the interior....

Re: 1972 c10 -

Sweet.. I seen the steering wheel you pickup off here. The only hole that was left on mine was the emblems on the fender and hood. Not sure if mine even had trim molding on it though.

Re: 1972 c10 -

I picked up some deluxe door panels with woodgrain panels and visors last night locally & a bench seat that needs upholstered. So after paint inside the cab ill get those parts installed.

Im waiting on some mirrors from brothers to get here so I can go get it liscensed & legal to drive on the road.

Re: 1972 c10 -

. . . .

That looks like an original cloth seat with the scroll pattern in the vinyl . . . which means it must be a low mileage truck.

Did it have any remains of an "8 350" valve cover sticker ?

. . . .

Re: 1972 c10 -

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: 1972 c10 -

Thanks guys...... I'm becoming a fan of the longbeds....I gotta get the interior paint color back to correct color....The 2nd owner used a rattle can on the interior paint....so now I gotta fix that but overall not too bad for a daily driver....tomorrow night I will have the Carter Carb back on her and then time for inspection........

. . . .

SMS had a cloth seat with a pattern CLOSE to the one you'd need a few months ago.
( seen in the link, below )

It might not be the "exact" match, but it's close.

litew8 was talking about this in his build thread
( seen in the picture, below )

Good choice on the mirrors. Round ones look so much nicer.
