any extended cabs? Details in how you did it

why not just go crew cab? i actually saw one the other day out side of Boise. it was pretty cool, nearly wrecked staring at it.

How about a set of eldorado size doors, that would give lots of room. Plus if you did this on C/20 while making it a short bed you would not have to cut the center frame down. Just bob the bed ends and mod. the cab. Probably just make cab out of two and four doors. Hey it is all in fun but a big door opening and a 12" slot between the seat and the tank is a place to start. The black does give it a long and low look too.

I like this idea the best, and its another thing Ive been booting around in my head for a while. But I would do it subtly with probably only about 4-6 inches added to the doors. Then do a midsize bed with 4-6 inch bob on each end. Dont forget the window trouble we're gonna have!

Ive seen plenty of these trucks done nicely into a quad cab. But I have seen only a couple that really pulled it off in extended cabs.

I'm not slamming anyone's ride, I mean they look OK, but the rear windows just haven't flowed with the design of the truck in my eyes.

I love the look of this truck! Now it's got me thinking. How much longer is that cab?

Its not exact, but represents about a 12" stretch. This would bring the box down to a shortbed length between the back of the cab and the axle. Then cutting out another section just over 8" behind the axle would bring thr box down to the factory 6.5'. The end result would be a shortbed extended cab without a frame cut other than the rear bob. Overall it is a LOT of fabrication work with many details to work out. The window lifts and hinges as well as hinge mounts will need to be addressed.

I think extending the doors would be the trickiest part but like you say it's alot of work. The fact that the side glass is flat still has me thinking though. I think it looks right and someone who didn't know these trucks would think it came that way.

Would love to see someone build it. But it is a lot to overcome. Building a door might be the place to start. The shell will need a reinforcement added at both of the door hinge attachments as old doors crack there already. Inside the shell there is the matter of extending it. Keep the rear window track and latch position. Extend the relay rod and use dual power window lifts. The door skin might be the biggest challenge and may require a custom made skin vs piecing together two. Do you have a C10 lwb or C20 to play with?
