I have the same rear diff in my 69 K20, it's a major upgrade! It is a GM corporate 14 bolt, looks like the 10.5" gear variety. The have been made from 1973 to late 90's I believe. You can get rear disc brake parts for that thing cheaper than drum parts. If you aren't concerned about all origional then I would highly recommend leaving it and adding the discs too.

If your going to relocate the tank, I would use a 31 gallon tank from a newer suburban. It won't hang as low and holds more gas.
