66 chevy headlight problem?
My 1966 chevy c10 2wd has some weird headlight problem. When i turn the light switch on i barely have headlights. like the left one is decent but the right is like a flickering orange glow :/ I went and changed the bulbs with new ones thinkin that would work but still it is the same. I unplugged the main light plug and cleaned it reallly really good. and plugged it back in and still the same, I also took off the grill off to rewire it all and im still having the same problem? what could it be? and clicking the high-beam switch it had no affect on the right and very little on the left. wonder what it could be?

Re: 66 chevy headlight problem?
The headlight switch powers the headlights so make sure the
Red wire at switch has 12 volts atleast..... If so the blue wire goes to the high beam selector see if it has 12.... Could be a bad switch or headlight high beam switch but double check grounds At headlights! Must be clean and paint free! Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 66 chevy headlight problem?
After fixing the grounds, do yourself a favor and install a pair if relays....will make a world of difference....search for headlight relays......Kieth
ps I soldered a ground wire to every light housing on my truck and then installed grounding blocks to the frame . no more chasing grounds and all lights are brighter.. |

Re: 66 chevy headlight problem?
Ground is the problem..... Our trucks only had a single wire coming off the battery cable to the core support that supplied ground to the body. Think about it.... the engine is mounted with rubber mounts, the body has rubber mounts to the frame, etc.
Later in 1966 they started adding ground straps from the engine to the firewall, but people took these off and threw them away when the did repairs. I found these on 95-96 explorers and added them to my truck since they just slip on. I added them everywhere, grounded cab to frame, bed to frame, core support to frame..... ALL my lights are brighter including dash lights, and the amp meter is more stable doesn't bounce around as much.
