Re: How to dismantle a deluxe heater control

It looks like your levers have been swapped out in the past, judging from the giant cotter pin holding them together.

Re: How to dismantle a deluxe heater control

I just finished redoing my entire heating system, but did not remove the rivets. I just did not want to get into it that much. I did look at the unit and if I were to remove the rivets I would first use a Dremel or a pencil grinder to remive the heads of the rivet. In the reassembly I would use plain rivets, it would not be correct but I beleive it would do the job just find. I do not think anyone would look into that area.
I got a laugh from the cotter pin thing. It is funny what people notice, it did it's job though. The correct application is a pin, I beleive it is not available.

Re: How to dismantle a deluxe heater control

After looking at the control again I don't think there rivets I think there casted pins that got mushroomed over after assemebly I just don't know if there is enough meat there to drill and tap. I could glue it but I would like to use machine screws. As for the cutter pin holding the leavers in my father inlaw probably was out of bailing wire.
