upper a arm question. is something wrong here?

I am putting my chassis together and i am having a problem with my upper a arm and shaft. I cant push the shaft to the end of the stud because the rubber seal hits the edge of the ear on the frame. does this on the rear bolt of both sides. the fronts both go all the way on. I realize that shims are going to go here when its has to be allighned but could this cause me problems down the road? should i file down the ear till it fits all the way. would hate this to be a problem when i need to allighn this.

Strange, for what its worth my original shim pack for the rear on each side were: .15 on one side a .30 on the other still too close for comfort in your case. Is that new hardware? the studs and washers that the shaft mounts on? the thick concave washers on mine measure .375".

...
I think I spoke too soon. Looking back over it.

Now that I reread it...my inner fenders are off my truck and I'm not running any shims. I'll have a look and let you know what I find.

Re: upper a arm question. is something wrong here?

the studs and washers are original i just had them cad plated. Arms are on the correct sides. Brand new moog a arm shafts. they look exactly like the originals when i removed them. I never checked the shims originally as i new this would all have to be realigned so i just bought some new shims. not too sure what to think here. might just have to remove the metal till they sit flush and repowder them. I wonder if this would hurt the integrity of the pieces that hold the shafts in?

when i removed these again i noticed someone had built up some weld on them. My solution was i ground down the weld until i felt it had satisfactory clearance.

Can I ask where you got the studs that attach the a-arm cross shaft? Or did you place them with regular grade 8 bolts?
