71 Chevy LWB Transformation
Well here goes my build thread. Building a daily driver, autocross ready, quarter mile pick-up. I hope to get more recent pictures up soon. I have a 408 BBC being built by G&G racing engines. I have a Jakes Transmissions 4L80e w/TCI controller. I bought a whole bunch of cpp goodies so I hope it all goes smooth.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
Well I got the rest of the rivets out of the center crossmember and got it removed. I got the front a-arms installed with the new shock studs. Tomorrow I will be taking the headers and air cleaner to get coated. Then i'll run down new bearings and hardware for the rotors. Then install the new center drop member and rear shock re-locators. I have to run to Kennedale to pick up my converter Billet 11" 2800 stall. I should be dynoing the motor this week also.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
Got the converter yesterday. It's a 10" billet cover lock-up 2800 stall from performance converters in Kennedale, Tx. I'm ready to try it out. I got the from spindles and rotors installed worked on filling some of the holes in the cab. Will post pictures of the cab soon.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
Thank you. I did some light inside work today it was windy and cold. I'm in the process of installing the pass side cab corner and outer floor panel and rocker panel. Got the old stuff cut out and installed the outer floor pan lower kick panel. I will finish the cab corner and the rocker panel tomorrow or sat. I'm running low on mig gas and have a doctors appointment in the morning. One week check up on my hernia surgery. My doctor will be so proud. LOL. I'll get some help with the tank.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
Running low on Gas for the mig. I did get the cab corner in place and solid though. I went to the machine shop and looked at the new Brodix heads today. They are the 270cc race rite heads. The machinist was porting them and port matching the heads and intake (performer RPM). They are awesome looking heads it will be next week on the dynoing though. The custom pistons showed up today a week late. He will have it balanced and ready to go soon.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
I think i'm going to name this thing Bruiser. I have gotten pretty Bruised up working on it so far. It's going to be flat black w/ red brake calipers front and rear. I just wondered what anybody thought about rally stripes? I can't decide.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
Well I got some more welding done. Installed the Willwood brakes on the front chassis. This is the before picture on the dash. It will have a double din cut out and a/c vent soon. I will fill in the gaps around the southern rods a/c panel.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
Well worked on the dash and firewall tonight. I got the dash where the radio goes roughed in and the opening for the wiring harness enlarged. Welded up about 40 little holes in the firewall. The only ones left are the e-brake, service brake, wiring harness washer fluid and throttle cable. I will make new holes for anything else. I still need to fill in the two kick panel vents and some holes I noticed in the roof support overhead. Then prime it and prep for paint. I will then work on the rear suspension to have it ready for the motor and transmission. I had to go the the machine shop today and drop some more stuff off and got a picture of the heads. I will have to wait until the 23-24 of January to dyno the motor though. Oh well good things come to those who wait or some B.S. crap like that.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
Well I finally got my mig gas. I got the kick panel vents filled. Fixed another hole in the floor and the holes on the roof. Primed them up and will be working on the drivers side rocker panel and floor tomorrow evening. Got to go pick up my headers and air cleaner from powder coaters.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
Well I got the headers and air cleaner back from powder coating. I think they look great. I worked on smoothing the fire wall and kick panel vent areas up. I got body filler on the dash and worked on the right rear side of the cab. I will tackle the left side rocker panel outer floorpan tomorrow.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation
Got most of my stereo stuff ordered. I'll cut out the double din when I get the center vent put in for the a/c. I got my rims and tires ordered. I'll be running the matte black riddler 695's 18x9.5 rims and the 285/40/18's f1 super cars tires from goodyear. I can't wait to get this thing done.
