The weep hole relieves pressure buildup caused by the yoke moving back an forth as the vehicle passes over bumps.

If you have a weep hole & need to reinstall the sleeve....Replace the O-ring GM P/N 3764601
driveline shop is installing a new yoke, and he's gonna weld up the weep hole. New center support and joints as well. I think I'm going to snap some pics of the conversion and post them so people can get a visual of what's needed to do this swap.
