Fender flares - any good ideas ?

I am looking to flare the fenders on my 72 but I do not want to do a bolt on. Any ideas or input would be appreciated. I want to go with a nice flare about 3"-4" but I want it to look like it was made that way from the factory smooth and clean.

Here is an example of mine thanks to Photoshop but I want to go a little wider.

I know that I have seen it done somewhere on here but I can not seem to find it, I know that it will be a lot of work. But it will achieve the mean pro-tour look that I am after.

There is a big mean K/5 Blazer in the 67/72 4wd picture thread that has its fenders done.

There is always the giant factory flare route, how big and wide do you want to go?

"skorpioskorpio" that is a lot of examples, I like it but was wondering about post #5 the truck in the pic looks like it is being towed by a F**D but the F**D fender flare is about what I am looking for. But I am not getting a ford for anything.

Re: Fender flares - any good ideas ?

I am guessing that you want a touring look like the camaro you posted. My fenders are flared by the PO. If you wanted a long bed I would be up for a trade but guesssing you are doing a short. Mine are about 3-4" out. I have wondered about the same idea myself before on a two wheeler it would look pretty cool. I can post some better pics of the flares later if you want. The outer lips are steel. Not sure what is in between going to find out next year once I get it back on the road.

Re: Fender flares - any good ideas ?

You should see if anyone is doing repops of 1966-67 Oldsmobile Toronado fenders, they'd probably be fairly easy to graft in and follow the lines of these trucks.

One must ask though, what is it that you are trying to put in there? I would think a tire that tall and that wide would be somewhat limited in selection.

The ones on that first Camaro are pretty cool and would suit the body of your truck.

Re: Fender flares - any good ideas ?

Here are some pics of the bed only. I dont seem to have any good ones of the front fenders other than what i posted on the "to flare or not to flare" posting. I recently found some 20" wheels with 37" BFG tires on Craigslist that i am thinking about. Only problem is that it wont fit in my garage if it gets any taller...
