temp wire location help

Hey guys trying to find the wire that goes to the temp sender on the block on my 75 k20. I had put an aftermarket gauge on my truck but would now like to hook up the original gauge in the dash. I grabbed a wire with connetor from the junk yard but I cant locate my wire on my truck. I have traced them all from the fuse block and cant seem to find it. Everything I read says green wire but my dark green wire goes to my starter. Can anyone help or tell me where to look for this wire?

Re: temp wire location help

Wow the green wire is all I know, if its not spliced and goes to the bulk head on the firewall, I don't know. If its spliced, look for the green wire at the bulk head, might be cut inside the harness.

Another way, if you have any open wires, first make sure they are not a 12 volt positive wire. Then with the key on, touch the suspect wire to metal and see if the gauge maxes out.

The 1975 GM truck wiring diagrams have all the bulkhead plug wire locations. Look in the 73-91 manual link in my sig.

Re: temp wire location help

I have no idea where this wire is, I have traced evry wire down and I cant find an open one at all. I guess I will just have to tap into it in the cab. I cant get the wiring diagrams to load correctly so is the temp wire green in the cab also? Thanks

Re: temp wire location help

You'll need to download the PDF to a local directory on your PC then open it in the Acrobat Reader. The PDF files will not reliably open directly from the web in Acrobat Reader (this is on purpose). The files open when downloaded to a local virtual drive on my Windows 2000 VM-Ware image using the very outdated Acrobat Reader 6 ( I just tried it ) so they should work with any later Acrobat versions.

I attached a JPG crop of just the bulkhead plugs.

TEMP is CIRCUIT#35.
TEMP wire on the engine compartment side is DARK GREEN.
Cab side is DARK GREEN as well. NOTE: There are two TEMP wires in the cab. 35A goes to the Ignition Switch and 35B goes to the Instrument Cluster.
