Steering Column Donor

My restoration project has begun on a 71' GMC Sierra. The steering column needs replaced and am shopping for a replacement. Other than the obvious same year/model donors what other year/models will work as a "easy" replacement? I don't want to do a bunch of rewiring or fabrication and money is an issue. Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: Steering Column Donor

Van columns up until 1980. You would need to shorten your intermediate shaft (quick and easy) You would need to get a horseshoe wiring adapter (around $20). They are pretty close to plug and play columns, plus you might also be able to upgrade to a tilt if you find one in the junkyard.
