4-6 drop question

I am new to lowering trucks all the suspension work I have done is to lift trucks for off road. I have a 72 chevy c-10 LWB. I have the bed off for body work and want to do a boyd tank between the frame rails any advise on what tank to buy (side fill top fill, any other parts needed, or modifications to make it fit)? and can I do a 4-6 drop with that tank. I have seen posts about guys with a 4-6 drop with out notching the frame. I am thinking about the ece kit unless someone knows a more budget friendly kit. This truck is just for cruising so I wont ever be loading the bed or towing. Any input will help I am very new to this.

Re: 4-6 drop question

I have a 68 swb with a 4.5/6 drop from ECE and I am using the Boyd tank. I used the bed fill because I didn't want to do the work to put filler access in the side of the bed. Many people here on the board have used the side fill with great success, but it is a good bit of work. Also, I do not have a notch, I just trimmed the bump stops. I plan to notch mine for extra clearance, but it is not a necessity. Hope this helps, and good luck with your build!

Re: 4-6 drop question

With the reading I've done, it seems like the shorty guys say they can get by with the 6 in the back and no notch. The long guys I have seen mixed comments. I think with the added weight of the fuel tank and fuel behind the wheels, leverage may not play in your favor.

Re: 4-6 drop question

Thanks for the info guys. BucksSS how did you do your bed fill. Did you put in a filler door or a marine cap? any advice for the install or pics. I guess I will try the drop kit and if I need a notch thats just another excuse to work on the truck.
