Header difference question

I've noticed 2 main header design differences and I wonder if it's just different brand designs or fitment. I have seen the same on either 2wd or 4wd, both 67-72 and 73-87. So I believe it to be brand related. The first design has the front exhaust tubes run immediately down, right behind the motor mounts and center two tubes. The second design has the front exhaust tubes run a bit up, then over the center two exhaust ports before finally turning down toward the rear.
