1984 Chevy C10 Gauges

Hello all,

I have a 1984 Chevy C10. The speedometer and gas gauges tend to jump around every time I hit a bump in the road. Is this normal for these older trucks? Can I do something for the gauges to stop bouncing around? Any insight will be great, thanks!

Mine shows different levels depending on if I'm accelerating or slowing down.

I have an 84 c10 and it did this as well got a new speedo cable and had a bad ground wire and a bad wire from sending unit and was touching bare wire to metal and was getting pinched in a couple different places. just replaced wires and all good

Re: 1984 Chevy C10 Gauges

I had read about the bouncy gas gauge
heard it was because of aftermarket "Spectra" parts
I could read that name on my tank

assumed this was why my 78 gas gauge bounced with idiots
I added a ground behind the cluster where they go too one, didn't help
i bought and changed to a tach/gauge setup
had to rewire it and had to add a seperate ground for the gauge
and the bounce went away....

this past summer my 79 tank/sender rusted out
replaced it with "spectra" parts
as my auto parts guy said he's never heard of this prob
no bounce

speedo make sure it's in tight
