Question Big block power steering reservoir to pump hose?

What kind of hose can I use on my big block ps reservoir to pump. Mine shows some small cracks and while the gearbox and hoses are being replaced its a good time to swap this hose. Can i use 5/8 heater hose?

Re: Big block power steering reservoir to pump hose?

I got mine from a marine shop...it needs to be oil/fuel resistant. Heater hose is not, and eventually it will break down and "weep" power steering fluid.

Gates has it available in a 10' section or a 3' section.

P/N: for 10' is 34990
P/N: for 3' is 362100

Rock Auto has the 3' section #362100 in stock

Napa number #NPS 73306
CarQuest #34999

Re: Big block power steering reservoir to pump hose?

Liverat,

Thanks for posting the part numbers for PS hose!

I will be needing the hose for my big block shortly and having the PN's is very helpful.

Re: Big block power steering reservoir to pump hose?

Your local NAPA store should have bulk hydraulic hose in stock, cut to length. Usually Weather Head brand

When I lived in Nashville, I bought some from a hose shop downtown, but can't remember the name. I believe what you need is hydraulic return line. DO NOT use heater hose.

My local NAPA has a universal low pressure hydraulic hose, in several sizes. It does not have wire it, I plan to use it on mine. Only drawback is, most sizes are red in color, I will paint mine, paint sticks to rubber, if you get it clean...

Re: Big block power steering reservoir to pump hose?

I went to Napa and he came out with a heater hose. I even gave him a part # too. I left and went to Car Quest. Got the right one so I'm happy. Thanks again guys.
