I am going to replace the 250 in old Grimm, it has a granny-low 4-speed that looks like it has a leak at the back. I want to pull it out as well as the engine.

From looking at the Haynes manual, it looks like there are 4 large bolts at the rear end of the bellhousing that need to come out and then the trans gets moved back and down to remove. Question is: Does the bell housing assembly come out at the same time the engine does? I am more familiar with auto trannys than I am this manual. Not exactly sure how to proceed... comments and suggestions are appreciated!

Yes the gear box will unbolt from the clutch and the bell housing. The bell housing will come out with the engine

The above is doing it the hard way. Much easier to unbutton the bellhousing from the back of the motor to pull it.

I have done motor swaps where I left the trans in with the bell and pulled the motor. Just taje the rad out firs

Well not saying I would necisarilly do it that way but it answered his quistion lol it has been a while since I dropped a transmission

Thanks for the input. I have a tranny jack to put underneath, and then can undo the bellhousing bolts. I was just figuring to pull the trans out prior to the motor so I can dink with the leaky seal on the back of the trans.
I'll probably be back with another q or 2
