Re: project shorty 84

i took it for another drive with the exhaust on...i am not one to beat on cars but i did a roll on and omg this thing is gonna liquify tires if i wanted it too.

next step is pulling it out in the driveway and cleaning that rear frame off and epoxying the frame to make back to black.

then it is blocking time...yayy......

Wow, I really like that exhaust. Any issues with heating up the fuel tank?

Re: project shorty 84

what did you end up doing for a trans crossmember? Do you have any pics? When you moved the motor back did you have to just drill new holes in the frame or did you modify your crossmember. Sorry if these are stupid questions.

Re: project shorty 84

i dont think i will have any issues with it heating the tank, it is far enough away.

the crossmember was custom made, i will get pics of it for you, made out of sq. stock and plating...new holes drilled in frame and bolted on.

you will love them did you get the uncoated or coated ones? i got the uncoated and did the eastwood titanium high temp header coating on them.
Good to hear! I ordered mine and should have mine together within the next few weeks. I just got the painted ones. I have the dingo mounts as well and they set the motor back pretty far. You welded the headers to your pipes? I am trying to decide on how to do mine. I have 2.5" exhaust now an the collectors are 3." sounds like you're having fun with it, good job!

Hey what did you wind up using for the trans linkage ? And will those dirty dingo mounts work with the ac compressor in the factory low mount position ?

i used the lokar linkage and did a little "bending" just a little to make it shift into all gears but it was almost a direct bolt on, very easy. I didnt have ac so i dont know on the compressor fitment. i assume it would fit.

Re: project shorty 84

sorry for the long long long delay on updates to this post....i finally gave up on the body man crap...not my m.o. A good friend of mine Josh builds cars and offroad trucks and he felt pitty on me and decided to take my truck on at a very discounted friend deal. He preceded to take out all my body filler and re-repaired all my metal work lol..this is his quote "if your going to do body work,,,,dont....call me"

He shaved the door handles, marker lights, locks, tailgate and anything else that could be shaved. Installed door poppers, and a tailgate handle relocation kit. The doors were pretty rough he has spent some time on them. The cab will be ready for paint on thanksgiving weekend. I will get some pics of the cab on here then when i go down there.

The color i picked was Kustom Shop hot rod flatz midnight blue pearl....i couldnt decide on a paint scheme so once i decide we can just scuff this stuff up and paint over it. I changed my mind on the mulsanne blue metallic.
