Re: Anyone used Walker mufflers?

It's your typical "turbo" style muffler. Walker and Dynomax are the same company, so they make decent quality mufflers. It will be a little louder than stock but significantly quieter than any straight through type or chambered muffler design. I ran them on my Mazda B2200 daily driver truck, I wanted something that flowed better than stock, but didn't sound like a ricer, and it fit the bill, it was quiet at idle and cruising speed, but had a little noise to it if I got on it.

Have you thought about a long Mangaflow.

They have a nice sound, but not load if that is what you want.

Re: Anyone used Walker mufflers?

I actually dont know much about mufflers. I have flow masters on my Camaro and 2 of my trucks, but thats too loud for what im wanting. Im going to run the exhaust just like the original factory exhaust is, using all the original hangers. I googled Walker and that was the OEM replacement I found.

Re: Anyone used Walker mufflers?

Walker still makes alot of the factory muscle car systems and are very tame in sound. Sounds like that's what you are looking for.

Another option might be the Pypes stainless Street Pro mufflers. Nice muffler and moderately prices at about $50 each. Very mild sound that isn't too aggressive, actually quieter than the Magnaflows I run on another car. Because of this I'm running the Pypes on 3 other cars right now.

Don't know anyone else that sells a stainless muffler as cheap, and with a mellow sound. All the other stainless mufflers out there are $75 and up, and even alot of your regular steel mufflers are more expensive.

Re: Anyone used Walker mufflers?

I've used few different type Walker mufflers over the years. I prefer that company. They are a quality company. I'm sure you could get stack replacement,or stock-type for custom dual or whatever

Re: Anyone used Walker mufflers?

My mufflers are as follows..........

Stock 454 C-10 has oval stainless Magnaflows through 2.50" pipe, they're getting louder but is still OK for now.

Stock 307 in my 50, 2.00" pipes, red Thrush glasspacks, very mellow unless I stomp on it. My favorite.

Built 383 in my S-10, 2.50 pipes, headers, Flowmaster 40's, extremely annoying idling, cruising, or basically all the time.

All three trucks exhaust exits at the rear of the vehicle.

Then better explain what you are looking for. A large case "turbo" muffler is as close as you will get to a stock sound with a little more flow. Walker's "quiet flow" is a turbo muffler, most modern mufflers are very similar to a "turbo" muffler as well. The bigger/longer the case, the quieter it will be. The short small case turbo mufflers you pick up at the local parts store will be louder than the medium sized case muffler part number you listed.

Magnaflow is always a good option, the long cases give a nice deep mellow tone, but if a turbo muffler is too loud for what he wants, even a Magnaflow probably won't suit him.

Comparing DroneMasters to any other muffler is apples to oranges. A decent sized case Magnaflow will be 10x as mellow as those flowmasters, especially inside the car. The Walker turbo mufflers will be a quiet almost stock sound.

Re: Anyone used Walker mufflers?

I just put Dynomax (Walker) 17282 Ultra-Flo SS Mufflers on mine with true dual 2.25 with headers and am very pleased with them and you really cant beat the price.

I have had both Magnaflow and Flowmasters on other trucks over the years and would not do either again for a various of reasons.

Search on youtube for a similar setup to your ride to get a better idea for the sound.

Re: Anyone used Walker mufflers?

Walker makes a very good product in my experience.

I have found that regardless the type of muffler used, the farther back you can place it, the quieter it is. Once had a 69 Impala with a 350, factory duals. Replaced the mufflers (just ahead of the tailpipes) with some Cherry Bombs. I was shocked at how quiet it was, just a nice muted burble at idle, other than that it was quiet. Nice.

Thinking about doing something similar on my 67 - PO put on some Migrane-Flow something-or-others... ugh, sounds like

Re: Anyone used Walker mufflers?

So are we talking about making a whisper at idle an a whir of noise down the road?

Gibson makes big mufflers that will Prob work otherwise magnaflows or such will work.
I do know that spintech makes a rv/cruiser muffler which I'm sure will be very quiet as well.
Only issue is that usually the quiter the muffler is the more expensive it is as well

Re: Anyone used Walker mufflers?

FWIW, Im going to get a walker replacement muffler thats speced for a 1995 chevy suburban with a 454. They are similar to a turbo muffler but its almost like two turbo mufflers in one and the case is like 27" long. I'll dig up the part number later, but you can google walker exhaust and there is a catalog on there page.

Re: Anyone used Walker mufflers?

This is the one im going to be using. My exhaust (on my 78 gmc 4x4) will be stock TBI manifolds off a 90 suburban, stock y pipe from the same suburban, 12"x3"x3" glass pack where the cat would go (as a resonator) into 3" tube, into the muffler, and then 3" tail pipe out behinde the driver side tire like stock. Should sound pretty good. And if for any reason i dont like it, i know a magnaflow in place of the walker will sound very nice!
