Question Batteries

Has anybody priced batteries lately? Man the things have gone up since last time I had to buy one. A good battery In my opinion is $100.00 min.

Last one I biught for the truck was around $60.00.
I have to buy a battery for the 71 and was wondering where did everyone buy their's from.

O rielly's
Auto Zone
Advance
NAPA
Car Quest
Wal Mart

who did you buy from?

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

You can get an Everstart from Walmart for 75-80 bucks.

Re: Batteries

I actually work for advance but I buy my batteries from autozone the battery in my f350 is 12 years old and the one in my 68 is 7 years old and both are going strong both advance and zones batteries are made by johnson controls but zones have better quality control standards I think

I check most every where and so far Walmart has the highest CCA battery for the least amount of money.
I'm not even going to conceder the optiama battery as I think they are junk.
I haven't been to Car Quest yet but I'm thinking the Wal mart battery is the one and I think they to are Johnson control. + it had the longest warrinty.

Re: Batteries

last one was autozone, I always just buy a battery, never tell them what it is for.

That way I can get the 1000CCA uni top & side mount battery they all carry, around $100

Never had a fitment problem, extra hook ups are nice, if I gotta swap a ride, I know it will fit.

Yes the Walmart had both top and side mounts which I liked also. I took a measuring stick with me and found the biggest battery I could to fit.

Re: Batteries

Though next time around I will spend more to get a deep cycle, so I can run my stereo system for a few hours and no need to worry when I want to start up later.

Re: Batteries

Johnson Controls makes over 80% of automotive batteries. Optima, Interstate, Auto Zone Dura Last, Sears Die Hard, Walmart Never start, and on and on and on... They do not make the Auto Zone Valuecrap battery. They are one of those "you get what you pay for" things, I admit several brands have a bit of brand name premium (Interstate) but the lower cost battery is a lower grade, higher priced battery is higher grade. Guess who I work for?

I like O Reilly's parts and use them all the time but there batteries were like $150.00 compared to the Walmart one for $99.00 which has more CCA's.

Re: Batteries

Andy, If they have a store in your area check Tractor Supply. They carry Exide and I have purchased my last three batteries (for 3 different vehicles) from them. Each time I compared their price with Auto Zone, Advance, O rileys and wally world and each time found them $25 to $35 cheaper. I also avoid Interstate batteries at all cost. in my opinion, junk.

Re: Batteries

I've used Interstates since I left Tx.Always got more than warranty out of them. Before that I had an old time battery guy/alternator starter rebuilder that I got them from.He would sell me a unit that had set on the shelf for too long.I woud get a 7 year battery that stayed on the shelf over a year for $20.00.There was no warranty because it had set longer than was allowed for in the warranty.I never got less than the warranty out of one.
One of the things I miss most aboout Tx is the network of Buddy deals I had.Glass, electrical, paint and body and even occassional shop space out of the weather.

I may check but the closes one is 30 minutes away. + I hate to drive into Anderson just for that. I need to go check out the gun store though!

c10monkey,
Hadn't ever herd of them so I googled them. Man they are all over the place in the mid section of the country but nowhere to be found down here in the south yet!

Re: Batteries

Kirkland battery from Costco. P/n 12872 is what I run. It has 800 CCA and 1000 Cranking amps. Replaced my 5 year old Optima at much less cost.
