Re: Dakota vhx gauges

No nighttime pics yet, I'm doing a complete rewire with American Autowire kit. I still have all the under hood wiring left. It's taking me awhile because I'm trying to hide most of the wires for a cleaner look. By the way, thanks for the compliments, this is my first c-10.

Re: Dakota vhx gauges

I have the same gauges only with a black back ground. Where are you mounting the electronics? The cables they send you that plug into the control box is a bit short, at least for me it was. I mounted the control box in the glove box and the cables were still too short.

Here are mine. Kinda' funny, the pictures are from similar angle.

Is that an aftermarket dash pad? Mine is and has a lump where one of the bolts is located. I had mine covered in leather and the lump didn't go away.

I mounted my control box right behind the cluster on the bottom side of the dash with 3M Velcro . I thought about the glove box until I checked the length of the cables. Yes my dash pad is aftermarket but not sure what brand.

What is the add on module you have? Is it for the gear selector output? Which air conditioning are you going with? I noticed the bulkhead fitting. I did something similar and it was a PITA getting the hoses/fittings together to route everything to the bulkhead then another PITA getting the fittings tight. I used Areoquip stuff.

Good lord, man - What a job on the wiring!

Help me out here - the vertical bar handles the positive side and the horizontal distributes the ground? I guess the red wires are throwing me off.

Very tidy, but intimidating to those of us that have a hard time changing light bulbs.

The dash looks awesome.

The additional module above the transmission hump is the OBDII interface to VHX for my LS engine. This allows me to utilize the PCM for Engine Temp, speed, rpm, gear selector, etc.. All of the AC stuff is vintage air.

Thanks Steve, the vertical bus is power off of the additional fuse box that sits right below the bus. It powers stuff like the AC system, PCM, power seats, Dakota Digital Dash, Fan relays, fuel pump, etc.. The horizontal items are 50 amp circuit breakers (one for always hot, and the other for hot on run) for the additional power I brought into the cab to power all the extras. The LS install requires a few more fuses than the original 350 did.
